Please develop a family tree to illustrate the relationship of the jazz Kellys. There's Tom "Red" Kelly who played bass with Stan Kenton in the late 1950s, of course we all recognize Wynton Kelly, I have warm memories of Pete Kelly, of Pete Kelly's Blues, There is Mr. Kelly of the night club, Pat Kelly of eastern Cincinnati, not to mention the spelling impaired Peck Kelley-pianist from Texas, occasional vocalist Kristen Kelly and Julie Kelly the singer-guitarist from L.A. Give us a break and let us see how the branches of this dynasty connect.
Why do the historians and academics all hide the true Irish routes (sic) of jazz? This is a music steeped in whiskey, scones, soda bread and cabbage, yet the popular press feeds us an entire other mythology.
